About MWIB

What is Monaghan Women in Business?

Monaghan Women in Business (MWIB) is an informal network which is open to all women in business and in management positions  and women who have an interest in business development in County Monaghan and surrounding areas.

Our aim is to provide information, support, promotional and networking opportunities to all who take part.

We welcome businesses at all stages of development – from pre-start up to internationally established operators.

The Monaghan Women in Business Network is a Local Enterprise Office initiative and Monaghan Local Enterprise Office supports and highly subsidises all Monaghan Women in Business activities.

Monaghan Women in Business hold monthly events in venues throughout County Monaghan – usually on the first Tuesday of each month.  The format of our meetings vary but usually include

  • a presentation by a carefully selected guest speaker
  • informal discussion and
  • informal networking over refreshments

The current registration fee for events is €10.00, including refreshments. This fee is highly subsidised by Local Enterprise Office Monaghan, who support and sponsor all events.

Here is a sample of some of our events to give you a taste of our activities –

Monaghan Women in Business

Moira Ní Gallachóir – Successful Businesswoman and Coach – is Guest Speaker – Iontas Centre Castleblayney – 9th November 2017

We are delighted to welcome the very inspiring and successful Donegal entrepreneur – Moira Ní Gallachóir – to join us as part of her U.S. and national “Waking The Giants” speaking tour.   The event will take place at 6.30 pm in The Iontas Centre,Castleblayney on Thursday 12th November.

Moira has an extraordinary story to tell!  She left her 9-5 job in London, to return home and fulfil her dream of freedom by starting her own business.  In spite of having never owned a business before, she first built a travel business to help bring visitors to her local area in County Donegal and quickly succeeded in attracting hundreds of visitors from all over the world to the destination.

She then built a consistent monthly revenue stream of €25k lightning fast from business coaching and now helps business owners and entrepreneurs all over the world to fulfil their dreams with their own profoundly profitable business.

Moira brings her inspired, dynamic, successful brand of business mentoring all over Ireland and the US to show entrepreneurs a bigger vision for their own businesses, and a powerful, authentic path to inspire their way to more contacts, contracts,  clients and profits!

Her 2017 speaking tour is titled “Waking The Giants – How to make a Difference, Make Money and Do What You Want When you want”.  Sounds great!  We are delighted to be part of Moira’s national itinerary!

In a little variation from our usual pattern, this event will be held on a Thursday.  Details are as follow:

Date: Thursday 9th November 2017
Venue: The Iontas Centre, Castleblayney

Seven Key Strategies for Building and Successful and Sellable Business – September 2017

Our September event was all about building up a successful and sellable business – an asset which you can use to develop future enterprises and/or an asset to enhance your lifestyle as the years advance.

We were very lucky to have been able to welcome as our guest speaker Killeevan woman, Anne Marie Graham, who set up the Healthforce Group, built the business and sold it ten years later for a 6 figure sum… nice!

In her insightful and very practical presentation Anne Marie used her own story as a case study to show how implementing  key strategies can lead to the development of a highly successful and sellable business.

Anne Marie’s presentation was followed  by networking and refreshments at Just In Asian Street Food, Market Street – formerly The Hungry Monk. A great evening out and very productive time was had by all!

Though it’s nowhere nearly as good as being there on the evening, you will find a copy of Anne Marie’s presentation on our resources page – along with a number of other useful links and resources. We hope you find these interesting and useful!

Finance and Tapas for Monaghan Women in Business

Rose Tierney Monaghan Women in BusinessTo kick start the Monaghan Women in Business Autumn Programme we  got right down to the most basic and essentially important business theme i.e. FINANCE.

One of the commonly cited causes of business failure among female entrepreneurs is lack of proper financing.  Even where businesses survive, they frequently fail to develop and reach their full potential due to lack of adequate finance.

At our September meeting, experienced accountant,  tax adviser and Monaghan Women in Business member – Rose Tierney – gave us the low down on how to assess our business and personal finances and how to effectively plan for our financial future – thus improving the opportunities for our businesses and our own personal quality of life, now and in the years ahead.

Rose did an amazing job and got a lot of us thinking about where we are and where we are headed in financial terms.  She shared a wealth of knowledge and expertise with us and took a very practical approach to financial management and planning.

Rose very kindly shared her presentation materials with us and you can check them out – along with other useful resources –here.  Not as good as being at the event but very useful nonetheless.

After Rose’s presentation and Q+A session we adjourned to Paula’s Deery’s lovely Tapas de Noche to enjoy delicious tapas and a further meaningful networking opportunity.  Another great event for Monaghan Women in Business!
