What is Monaghan Women in Business?
Monaghan Women in Business (MWIB) is an informal network which is open to all women in business and in management positions and women who have an interest in business development in County Monaghan and surrounding areas.
Our aim is to provide information, support, promotional and networking opportunities to all who take part.
We welcome businesses at all stages of development – from pre-start up to internationally established operators.
The Monaghan Women in Business Network is a Local Enterprise Office initiative and Monaghan Local Enterprise Office supports and highly subsidises all Monaghan Women in Business activities.
Monaghan Women in Business hold monthly events in venues throughout County Monaghan – usually on the first Tuesday of each month. The format of our meetings vary but usually include
- a presentation by a carefully selected guest speaker
- informal discussion and
- informal networking over refreshments
The current registration fee for events is €10.00, including refreshments. This fee is highly subsidised by Local Enterprise Office Monaghan, who support and sponsor all events.
Here is a sample of some of our recent events to give you a taste of our activities –
Seven Key Strategies for Building and Successful and Sellable Business – September 2017
Our September event was all about building up a successful and sellable business – an asset which you can use to develop future enterprises and/or an asset to enhance your lifestyle as the years advance.
We were very lucky to have been able to welcome as our guest speaker Killeevan woman, Anne Marie Graham, who set up the Healthforce Group, built the business and sold it ten years later for a 6 figure sum… nice!
In her insightful and very practical presentation Anne Marie used her own story as a case study to show how implementing key strategies can lead to the development of a highly successful and sellable business.
Anne Marie’s presentation was followed by networking and refreshments at Just In Asian Street Food, Market Street – formerly The Hungry Monk. A great evening out and very productive time was had by all!
Though it’s nowhere nearly as good as being there on the evening, you will find a copy of Anne Marie’s presentation on our resources page – along with a number of other useful links and resources. We hope you find these interesting and useful!

Monaghan Women in Business June Event – Productivity and Time Management
In June, we benefited from a very practical Master Class in Productivity and Time Management which was Presented by Ciara Conlon, Productivity Coach and Author of Productivity for Dummies
Focussing and getting things done – and still having time for happiness and quality of life is a challenge for lots of people. This is particularly so for busy women who must take care of the many tasks and responsibilities which commonly fall on their shoulders – as well as running a business or doing a demanding job.
In this Master Class, Productivity Coach and author, Ciara Conlon addressed the key areas which prevent us from doing our best work and making the most of our time. The aim was to help us to form positive, productive habits and eliminate the barriers and challenges to getting more done.
Master Class Outline
Ciara’s Master Class helped us to:
- Understand the importance of goals as the first step to becoming more productive
- Learn how to create an environment for better focus and productivity
- Get Powerful tips to help you stop procrastinating and take action
- See the value of daily habits to increase focus and get more done
- Pick up practical tips for simple systems that will make you a productivity powerhouse
The event was a great success and we enjoyed informal networking and a delicious supper afterwards in Jane McKenna’s Cozy Café Cuisine. Lots of chats and laughs were had!
