What is Monaghan Women in Business?
Monaghan Women in Business (MWIB) is an informal network which is open to all women in business and in management positions in County Monaghan and surrounding areas. Our aim is to provide information, support, promotional and networking opportunities to all who take part.
We welcome businesses at all stages of development – from pre-start up to internationally established operators.
We welcomed over 60 Monaghan Women in Business to our 2017 Launch on 8th March – International Women’s Day – as part of National Enterprise Week. See details of our 2017 Launch here. From April on we meet on a monthly basis – usually on the first Tuesday of each month – at venues throughout County Monaghan. Our events include –
- Presentaions by expert Guest Speakers – materials are frequently posted to our Resources Page so that you can access and refer to them at a later stage
- Networking opportnities (always bring your business cards!)
- Exhibits by Monaghan Women in Business member businesses
- A social element with refreshments. This may be in the event venue or in the cafe or restaurant premises of a Monaghan Women in Business member

On Tuesday 4th April 2017 we welcomed Barbara Moynihan, On Your Feet as our Guest Speaker. Barbara’s theme was “Speak Up With Confidence – Mastering the WOW”. We had a great evening and Barbara’s presentation was amazing —- entertaining, interacitve and full of practical tips. A great time was had by al. Afterwards, we enjoyed delicious refreshments at Samantha Hawe’s lovely Cotton Tail Café – chats and networking abounded.

For now there is no formal membership registration. All women in business – or who have an interest in business development – can just come along to our meetings, introduce themselves and become part of this great support network.
In 2016 a total of 159 individual business women attended our 9 events throughout the year. As many people attended all or many different events, the total attendance at events was 330+. It is notable that a number of women travelled from as far away as Belfast to attend numerous events throughout the year.
Fees for Events
There is no formal membership structure and no membership fee. Our annual launch on International Women’s Day is part of National Enterprise week is free of charge. Attendance at monthly meetings thereafter is on a per meeting basis. Our fee is €10 per meeting. This includes –
- Participation in the presentation by an expert speaker or theme panel
- The opportunity to exhibit at the event
- Networking opportunities
The programme is funded by Monaghan Local Enterprise Office. To facilitate catering arrangements, you are requested to register for each event via the Monaghan Local Enterprise Office website prior to the event.
